PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

From the Principal

Much has been written about the role of a school in preparing students for their future; in assisting them to develop as compassionate, caring, thoughtful individuals in a global community. They are attending school to learn skills, knowledge and competencies, but also to develop their social and emotional intelligence. We attempt through our practices and approaches to cultivate their resilience and a positive outlook on life.

This year we are asking that as young adults they question and shape their values, they have integrity and they understand their rights, but also their responsibilities. It is incumbent upon students to reflect on their actions and the effect they have on others around them. They need to celebrate the beneficial consequences of their dealings with others, but also be prepared to evaluate their actions honestly and face up to any consequences that may be harmful to others.

We do not live in a bubble and everything we do and say has an impact. The choices students make have repercussions and they need to step back and assess viable alternatives, judge their own motivations and own their decisions and the aftermath of the options they select.
