Music Industry class seize the day

It’s been a long 2 years of lockdowns and we have certainly felt a heavy silence in the performing arts. So when the opportunity came along for our Year 10 Music Industry class to hold an event, the ideas were flowing!

‘Seize the Day’ took place outside the Performing Arts Centre last Tuesday lunchtime. The Industry class booked it all – the BBQ, cooking, food order, staffing, artists, financial needs, tables, set up, clean up, pack up… the lot. Each lesson since returning from remote learning was dedicated to creating and planning the event. This is an official assessment for the class.

The artists included Lewis Cook, an experienced performer who is a featured artist at School Spectacular. We were also treated to the debut performance of Mya Helou and Taz Fowler. These artists set up the festival vibe with their great tunes.

It was a terrific lunchtime of food and music, thanks to the teachers who helped supervise and all the students who came along to enjoy some live music and great food. The class raised almost $300 for The Smith Family, an independent children's charity helping disadvantaged Australian children to get the most out of their education. It was a lovely wrap up for the term.
