Duke of Edinburgh Camp

Adventurous journey in Anglesea

After thinking all hope was lost, the stars eventually aligned to allow the Year 9 Duke of Ed Camps to go ahead! Students travelled to the Anglesea area where they spent 3 days camping, cooking and catering for themselves and participating in activities to learn new skills. All this is part of the Adventurous Journey component of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award that they have been working hard to complete this year.

We were treated with perfect beginner surf conditions at Anglesea beach with students and staff thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to be in amongst the waves.  There were plenty of first-time surfers catching waves! Students also walked a section of the Surf Coast Walking Track and then worked on their mountain biking skills by navigating some giant puddles and steep hills, all made worth the effort to see the breathtaking views of the Surf Coast.

Everyone was grateful to be able to be back on a school camp and back outside in nature having fun, learning new skills and of course socialising and making new friends.

Camp was awesome. I had a great time surfing, mountain biking, cooking and hanging out with everyone. The hike was not too bad, but it got kind of draining. I enjoyed getting closer to people I hadn't talked to before. It was my first time camping and I loved it!!
