Raise Mentoring – Year 7 and 8

We have had the privilege of working with the Raise Foundation for several years now and are so happy to be continuing our partnership with them in 2022. The Raise Mentoring Program provides one-to-one mentoring support for students in Year 7 and 8. The program runs for 20 weeks, with students attending one period of mentoring each week. Raise Mentoring supports youth wellbeing and engagement – it is suitable for students who are at risk of disengagement from school, have experienced poor health, are looking to expand their friendship networks, set goals, build confidence, and have a lot of fun along the way.

School Refusal Group Program – Year 7 to 10

We know that many students have found the last two years (including lockdowns and remote learning) extremely challenging. Some students will have experienced disengagement from school and their attendance may have reduced. In 2022 we will be running a small group to support students who are at risk of school refusal, which includes emotional distress (often in the form of anxiety) at attending school. This group, which will be facilitated by trained staff from the Student Wellbeing team, will teach students strategies to respond to their anxiety as well providing a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Programs for Parents/carers:

Tuning into Teens – all Year Levels

The Tuning into Teens program was developed by researchers at Melbourne University and focuses on the emotional connection between parents (or carers) and children. Of course (as we all know!) parenting a teenager can be challenging at times. This program will support you to communicate more effectively with and understand your teen better, will show you how to support your teen to build their own emotional intelligence, to develop more stable and satisfying relationships and to cope more positively with the big emotions that come with adolescence. Tuning into Teens includes approximately six 2-hour sessions (dates and times TBC) and will be facilitated by trained staff from the Student Wellbeing team.
