Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Updated Operational Guidelines came out on Friday. It is great news that Parents can now come onsite for special occasions, such as Graduation and Final Assembly if we follow COVIDSafe practices. At this stage we are not having parents in classrooms, our focus now is to try and keep everyone safe so they can enjoy their Christmas holidays.

EXCITING EVENTS

Felicity enjoyed holding the Melbourne Demons Premiership Cup while in Shepparton. Congratulations to Ben for coming second in a recent scooter competition in Bendigo. Well done to Lucy for being awarded the best and fairest for her soccer team.

ORIENTATION DAY

On Tuesday the 7th of December, we will have our Orientation Day for grades for 2021. Our Foundation students for 2021 will be able to visit from 9am-1pm.  Students will be met in the adventure playground by Mrs Bathman and then taken into the classroom. All other students will move into their classes for 2021. As usual, those Grade 5 students who wish to apply for leadership positions in 2021 will have the opportunity to share their speeches at an assembly at 1.45pm. This will be in the amphitheatre so that parents can attend. Parents must check in at the office using QR code, show evidence of vaccination and wear a mask.

At 6.30pm the Grade one children will go home, and the Grade two children will sleep over for the night.

GRADE 6 GRADUATION

Graduation will go ahead in a modified form, the Grade 6 trip to Funfields on Wednesday 15th replaces the dinner.  It is a lovely time to celebrate all our Year 6 student’s contributions to our school over the years and to acknowledge their achievements. Students are required at school on Tuesday 14th at 5.15pm. The Ceremony will commence at 5.30pm in the Central Learning Space. Due to restrictions on gatherings, each student can only have two adults attend. Siblings can attend. So that we comply with requirements, we will follow COVIDSafe practices. Families will enter the school building via the double doors at the end of the Central Learning Street. We are required to follow COVIDSafe practices:

  • Enter via the double doors at the end of the Central learning Street classroom door.
  • Check in using the QR code.
  • Sanitise your hands
  • Practice social distancing
  • Wear a mask
  • Show evidence of double vaccination.

TUTOR LEARNING INITIATIVE

It was exciting to learn that we will receive Tutor Program funding from the Victorian Government again in 2022. This is to support students who despite staff and parents' combined best efforts may not progressed at the expected rate in their learning because of the disruption caused by COVID-19. This money will be used to employ staff to provide intensive literacy or numeracy support to identified students for the 2022 year.

FINAL ASSEMBLEY

Final assembly will be held on Thursday 16th at 12.30pm in the amphitheatre.  Parents are welcome to attend if they comply with COVIDSafe practices.

Enjoy the lovely weather,

Regards Heather
