Nature Playground Committee -Expression of Interest

Would you like to be involved in a project for the school?

Are you interested in nature play?

Do you want to work with a great bunch of people in a focused and fun way?

Then we have the opportunity for you!

The P&C is assembling a Nature Playground Committee and is seeking keen parents and staff to join us. The committee will be responsible for leading the development of the school's nature playground, including identifying the elements that make a great Nature Playground, how these can be incorporated into our existing school environment, and putting a plan into action.

The involvement will include regular meetings during terms 3 and 4 (approx. every 3 weeks, days and times to be determined), visiting surrounding schools and parks to gather information and ideas, and developing and executing the vision.

We currently have 5 P&C members on the committee and would like up to 5 more parents to get involved along with several members of staff. If you have the time and passion to assist with this project, please email burrendahpc@gmail.com to express your interest. No previous experience required!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Quiz Night

We have listened to your feedback and ideas and are extremely excited to announce that the P&Cfundraising efforts this year will be put towards a nature playground!!

The playground will cater to both our Junior and Senior students. This will greatly benefit the whole school and is in line with the school’s commitment to ensure that National Quality Standard 3.2 is met: “Outdoor and indoor spaces are organised and adapted to support every child’s participation and to engage every child in quality experiences in both built and natural environments.”

Below are some of the benefits of nature play that have been widely researched internationally:

  • Children who play in natural settings are more resistant to stress; have a lower incidence of behavioural disorders, anxiety, and depression; and have a higher measure of self-worth.
  • Children who play in natural settings play in more diverse, imaginative, and creative ways, and show improved language and collaboration skills.
  • Children who play in nature have more positive feelings about each other.

The P&C will be running various fundraisers throughout the year, which we hope all our school families can get behind to help us achieve this goal.

Our major fundraiser for the year will be a Quiz Night hosted by the P&C on Friday 18th June.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

During the quiz night, we will be running a silent auction. We are requesting that all families contribute an item that will be used to create themed hampers. If every family donates an item we will significantly reduce our expenditure and increase the funds raised. All donations will be gratefully received!

The hampers have been grouped into themes by classroom, which you can see below.

We ask that you or your child bring your donation to the school and place it in the box which has been made available in each classroom by no later than Friday 11th June.

Details on how and where to purchase your tickets for this fabulous, fun event will be made available very soon!

Please ensure that all donated items are new (or never used or opened) and non-perishable. If you would prefer to make a cash donation, please place this in a marked envelope in the P&C box in the office.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR P&C EVENTS!

Throughout the year, the P&C will be running various fundraisers and events to raise money for our school, which enhances our children's education experience and creates happy memories of their time at primary school.

Understandably, not everyone can get to the P&C meetings and doesn't have the capacity to hold a role within the P&C. HOWEVER, there are still ways you can help!

We have set up a WhatsApp group called: 'P&C Volunteers 2021!' We are using this group to reach out to the wider school community at times when the P&C Committee simply cannot provide all the people required to successfully run an event.

If you are interested in assisting on an ad-hoc basis, all you need to do is send an email to burrendahpc@gmail.com. You will receive a reply email with a link to the 'P&C Volunteers 2021!" WhatsApp group.

Thank you very much for your support!
