Principal's News

Our theme for this year is

STEP UP! BE MORE!

Dear Parents,

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend last Monday. We have come to the last week of the term but that does not mean we are slowing down, as it will most definitely be a busy one with two evenings of Parent-Student-Teacher interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday and our end of term assembly on Friday. Unfortunately parents will be unable to attend our assembly this week but hopefully we can have you back in our learning spaces in Term 3

We will finish up the term at 1.30 p.m. on Friday. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday and look forward to another great term of learning in Term 3, which will commence on Monday 12th July.

Lay Ecclesial Leader at St Kevin's:

I am very happy to announce that Gerard Lewis has been appointed as the interim lay ecclesial leader at St Kevin's Parish. Gerry will commence work in the parish on 13th July 2021. We look forward to having the opportunity to welcome Gerry into our school community in Term 3 and I very much look forward to supporting and working with him to continue building and strengthening our school and parish connections. I have had the pleasure of working with Gerry in a variety of settings and know he will be a wonderful asset to our whole community. His gentle nature and ability to listen and discern with wisdom and patience, mean we are in very good hands. If you would like to read a brief bio about Gerry please click on the following link:

Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews:

Our Parent/Student/Teacher interviews will take place on Tuesday 22nd June, 3.45 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. and Wednesday 23rd June, 3.30 p.m. - 7.30 p.m. All interviews will be conducted online and instructions were emailed home to all families on Friday afternoon to explain how to access your child's Google Classroom and connect to the Google Meet link there to gain access to your interview. This is done in the exact same way that you accessed the Google Meets during home learning. If you have any difficulty or need some help please do not hesitate to call the school office on 9273 9999.

End of Term 2 and Start of Term 3:

Term 2 ends at 1.30 p.m. on Friday 25th June

Term 3 begins on Monday 12th July at 8.55 a.m.

School Advisory Council:

As you may be aware there has been a change in governance for all Catholic primary and some secondary schools in Melbourne, effective 1st January 2021. Our schools are governed by a new incorporated entity known as MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools). As part of the governance framework each school is required to establish a School Advisory Council, (SAC). As an advisory body, the SAC develops processes of consultation that are an essential expression of the educational relationship that exists between parents, schools, parishes and the wider parish community to support all students in the enhancement of their outcomes. Our current School Advisory Board will transition across to become our SAC and over the coming months develop our local terms of reference in line with the MACS guidelines.

Congratulations:

Congratulations to our year 3/4 basketball team, playing in the Bulleen-Templestowe Primary Schools Competition, for reaching the grand final. The grand final will be played in the first week of Term 3, in order to allow families and supporters to come along and cheer on their teams. Good Luck to our wonderful team - we are very proud of you all!

I am looking forward to coming along to watch you play.

Bread Bag and Tag Recycling at St Kevin's:

St Kevin's school is participating in the Wonder Recycling Rewards – a fun and easy program for Aussie schools to recycle all plastic bread bags and tags that might otherwise go to landfill. We will earn reward points to redeem on new sports equipment for our efforts. The bread bags will be used to create wonderful things like school furniture and play equipment!

For every 5kg bin filled, our school will earn credits redeemable for exciting new sports equipment.

Please start collecting your bread bags and drop them in the box in the school foyer.
