Principal's Update

Another beautiful day in paradise, perfect for the start of the snow season!
Another beautiful day in paradise, perfect for the start of the snow season!

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your patience and support throughout this recent period of lockdown and subsequent restrictions.  Under current restrictions, we are required to limit who is visiting the school.  As a result, a number of our programs have been postponed, temporarily, and we are not able to have volunteers in classes.  Parents and carers are also not able to attend assemblies until further notice.

With the recent wet weather, puddles are a great temptation, particularly for our younger students!  To assist in helping to keep everyone’s toes warm and dry, please pack spare socks and shoes or gumboots.

Schools are required to report to the Department of Education on student absences and to provide explanations as to why a child is absent. Unfortunately, we currently have a growing list of unexplained absences.  If your child is absent, please ensure you provide an explanation for each day they are away, using Compass. If you advise that they are away sick on one day, we are not able to assume that subsequent absences are due to the same reason.

In recent time, we have noticed a number of families using the staff carpark for morning drop off.  For safety reasons, we ask that all families please use the Tennis Court Avenue carpark for student pick up and drop off.

Expressions of interest are sought from families whose students would like to participate in the 2021 Schools Nordic Competition at Falls Creek.   This competition is open to all students.  Expressions of interest can be emailed to the school.

Planning for the Year 5/6 School Skiing Program has begun and this year we will be offering students the opportunity to choose from snow boarding, downhill skiing or XC.  Expressions of interest have been sought from students and more information will be sent home before the end of term.

Tomorrow is the last opportunity to contribute your feedback to our community survey which will inform our school review and the planning for upcoming building works.  Unfortunately, to date we have only had 13 responses.  Your opinion is essential for our future planning.  If you haven’t already done so, please take the time to complete the survey here.

The position of crossing supervisor is again vacant and interested persons are encouraged to apply! https://www.alpineshire.vic.gov.au/council/careers/current-vacancies/school-crossing-supervisor-mount-beautytawonga

A reminder that due to the Queen's Birthday holiday, there will be no school or OSHC on Monday.

Wishing you a safe and happy long weekend!
