Principal Report

Dear families,

Thank you for being patient with (last weeks) newsletter. Some would say the Principal forgot to send it....others that he knew big changes were ahead. I like the latter.

COVID UPDATE

So there a few things that have changed this week. Hopefully temporarily. The main one being the return of masks for adults and the gathering of only 30 people. At this point, assembly this week will go back to limited parents. The fairest way is to only invite the parents for the class hosting. This time it is 56M.

SCHOOL DISCO

This last one impacts the ability to host parents and carers at the disco. We have 15 spots for volunteers and 15 spots for staff in each disco session. Compass posts today explain how you sign up.

BOOK FAIR

Another area impacted is our book fair. We have created a TryBooking system for you to attend 30-minute sessions. They based around drop and pick-up and would be as close to the times and dates we would have been running anyway. https://www.trybooking.com/BRSHV

GRATITUDE

I would like to share a thank you on behalf of all the staff here at Rolling Hills for your attendance at Open Night. We think we had between 200-250 students attend, which is excellent!

It is a positive message to them that education is important.

It is a positive message to staff that their efforts to do things outside of the normal school day are worthwhile.

And mostly...

It is lots of fun for children to attend school in a different way.

Thank you to everyone

PREP EXCURSION

Another thank you to the Prep students and families for helping break the World record for organising an excursion. The prep's visited 'Eastlands' (although one child thought we were going to 'Queenslands') on a coach and attended sessions on Friendology (our new friendship approach for kids/staff/families), Mini-beats and Taekwondo. They all loved it. Well except for the lack of Queensland sun ; )

We are busy working on our understanding of Friendology and we will be launching this later in the year. It was great to sample a taster through Edwina Ricci and Eastlands.

SPOTLIGHT

The students who attended the writing spotlight group last year finally have their books published with their writing pieces. They will be bringing them home this Thursday. How exciting. Once they have them we will share a link with everyone else.

The maths groups started this week. They have been exploring 'breaking codes' and have a plan to organise a school 'Escape Room' experience for term 3. Watch this space!

Have a wonderful week.

Craig
