Education Week

Education Week Activities

As we continue to renew our school connections we are all looking forward to Education Week.  Parents and carers are invited to join your child in their classroom to assist them to make a hat for our fancy dress hat parade the following day.  No expertise is required, just the time to enjoy connecting with your child, their teachers and peers in their classroom.

An Event Not to be Missed

The importance of looking after yourself in order to look after others, was an important concept requiring reflection during the many challenges of 2020.  I encourage all families to strongly consider attending this very special presentation by Dr Helen Bourke-Taylor on Thursday 27 May between 7.00pm and 9.00pm.  Helen's presentation will provide you with vital information, research findings and the shared wisdom of other parents, in order to better support you to meet your important daily responsibilities in caring for your child with a disability and family, whilst also caring for yourself.

Associate Professor Helen Bourke-Taylor PhD

Dr Helen Bourke-Taylor (PhD), is an occupational therapist, academic and researcher who works at Monash University, Frankston, Victoria. Helen worked with children and teenagers with disabilities for 20 years in both Melbourne and Chicago, USA. Helen’s PhD investigated the health and situation of mothers of children with disabilities in Victoria. The findings informed the Healthy Mothers Healthy Families program. Helen’s focus is on mothers and families, improving services for families, school support for students with atypical learning needs and the life opportunities of children/young people with disabilities.

Child minding onsite at Belmore will be provided if required to assist in your attendance.
