Mothers' Day Devonshire Afternoon Tea
It was a delight to welcome our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and fathers to our devonshire tea to celebrate Mothers' Day on Friday afternoon, with everyone in attendance appreciating the opportunity to reconnect and enjoy this special experience.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful staff team for organising this very special event which enabled our mothers to relax, enjoy each others company and be treated to some special performances by both our foundation and transition classes.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words so I will let you enjoy the photos of our mums celebrating this special occasion together and with their children.
Mothers' Day Stall
With sincere appreciation to our Friends of Belmore, our Mothers' Day Stall provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to purchase a lovely gift for their mothers and other special people in their lives. This year all the beautiful gifts were donated and lovingly prepared for sale by a combination of parents and friends of our school. On the day all students enjoyed the opportunity to go shopping, spending considerable time to decide on the perfect gift for their mum, which was then gift wrapped ready to take home to surprise mum on Mothers' Day. Special thanks is extended to Yildiz, Mel D, Bron, Jess, Sarah and Mel A for their time and extra special efforts.
This year we are placing focus on reviving our Friends of Belmore and are currently working together to create opportunities for all parents to connect in order to get to know each other, to enjoy social opportunities, to share information and of course to support our wonderful school and students. To assist in connection an invitation to join a Mums' WhatsApp Group Chat will be sent home next week.
Education Support Staff
Once again this year Victoria is joining with the international education community to celebrate the work of our ES staff on 16 May. The term Education Support (ES) covers all staff working in a school who are not qualified teachers or undertaking the role of a teacher. At Belmore School our ES team comprises:
- therapists
- classroom and program support staff
- administration staff
- nurses
- technicians
- maintenance staff
As this year International Education Support Personnel Day falls on a Sunday, we intend to celebrate the magnificent contribution our ES team make to our school and the time, energy and care they provide to enhance the educational opportunities for our students with a special event on Wednesday when they are all at work together.
National Volunteer Week
Next week is National Volunteer Week and on Monday morning we are holding a special morning tea to thank our wonderful volunteers who provide much needed additional assistance to support our students in their learning programs. We are so grateful for the amazing contribution we receive from these very special people who give freely of their time to value add to our wide variety of programs.
Our magnificent volunteers are drawn from many areas and demonstrate the wonderful community we belong to:
- Parents
- Past parents
- Ex-students
- Family members
- Neighbours
- Local community members
I would like to take this opportunity to also recognise our wonderful staff who often volunteer their own time to ensure our school provides the very best educational opportunities for our students.
School Uniform
As many parents and carers will have experienced, with justifiable frustration, our current school uniform supplier has not been supplying school uniform items within an acceptable time frame and subsequently the School Council is currently sourcing a new organisation to supply the Belmore School uniform. Details are currently being arranged with information to be provided once they are finalised. In the meantime we request that you do not purchase any uniform items through the current online order system. If you have an outstanding order or need assistance with a specific item, please contact Kim at reception and she will provide assistance.
