Informative Writing

Last week during remote learning, JLC students were given the task of producing an informative poster on an Australian animal. The aim of this project was to allow students an opportunity to consolidate all the learning they have done in previous weeks on Information Reports.

Students were required to read information and then sort it into categories such as Food, Description, Habitat, Families, and Differences Between Males and Females. The children were also taught about headings, subheadings, the importance of layout, neat handwriting, and the inclusion of pictures, diagrams, and borders.

In order to help them visualise this, they were shown a WAGOLL which stands for What A Good One Looks Like, and given Success Criteria which they could self-assess their work against. All the children were highly engaged during this task and have produced some outstanding work!
