Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians and friends of Nazareth
After a long period of stability and new normal we are again faced the challenges of COVID-19 in the community. In the past we have adapted and coped, and I cannot see any difference this time around. As a community we all need to abide by the Health Authority Guidelines to ensure that we manage the spread of COVID. We have the experience of the past and we hope to do better this time around.
We had a successful COVID-safe Open Evening on Tuesday. It was evident by the number of visitors that there are many people extremely keen to learn more about Nazareth College; what we stand for and what we offer. Nazareth College's enrolments are looking healthy and I encourage our existing families that have young children to ensure that they lodge their enrolment as soon as possible as places are filling fast.
This week we celebrated 200 years of Catholic Education with a mass at St Patrick's Cathedral. Nazareth was invited and was represented by eight students and accompanied by our Director of Faith and Mission, Mr Peter Stewart.
At the same time we at Nazareth celebrate 35 years of Catholic coeducational schooling in Noble Park North and the surrounding area. It is a significant period and this year we acknowledge those responsible for acquiring the land, planning and building the school. It can be said that 35 years has produced many outstanding Nazarenes and this will continue for years to come.
Finally, we acknowledge Reconciliation Week. This is a time when we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and recognise the traditional custodians of this land. This year's theme is 'More than a Word. Reconciliation takes Action'. As a school we encourage our students, staff and community to take part in social justice activities, not sit back passively. Reconciliation is important to our country as we strive to live in harmony. I look forward to celebrating and further enriching our culture around the events of Reconciliation Week 27/05/2021 - 03/06/2021.
