Child Safety

Dear Families,

The student community was abuzz with excitement yesterday as students cast their vote for their preferred playground design.  A final decision has been made by the students and  the order for the playground will go in prior to end of this term.  We then begin what I am sure will feel like an endless wait for the installation of the playground which we anticipate will occur during the Term 3 holidays.

I'd like to thank the School Captains, Deputies and the SRC for facilitating this process and for representing their peers with maturity and integrity.

This term the SRC has also been meeting regularly to discuss safety at school.  At St Anthony's we place great value on empowering all students and young people to take action when they identify a concern that needs to be addressed. After reviewing safety across the school, we are now working on writing a student friendly version of the school's Child Safety Policy and will be presenting this to the wider student community in Term 3.

This policy outlines that everyone has a right to be safe and to be protected from unsafe behaviours; it also articulates actions that are taken by the school to promote student safety and to ensure that every adult who works in our school abides by our Code of Conduct.

We look forward to sharing our work with the school community next term.

Wishing you all a relaxing and safe holiday.

All the very best,
