This year John Wollaston Anglican Community School will support the homeless of Perth through our Founders' Day activities. We will be doing two marvellous things supporting the Socks in the City appeal and Anglicare WA's Street Connect program.
We need your help
All families are encouraged to donate a pair of socks. They need to be new socks in adult size made from natural fibres; mostly cotton or wool, with limited nylon or synthetics.
In Primary socks will be collected in student classrooms. In Secondary socks will be collected in House Groups. We will record and track how many socks we have through a sock-o-meter.
The socks will be presented to representatives from Socks in the City and Rotary on Founders' Day and then distributed through Homeless Healthcare.
Founders' Day Marketplace
For our Founders' Day Marketplace stalls students will require tokens to purchase activities and food items. These will range in price from 20c to $1.00. As in previous years only tokens will be accepted at Founders' Day Marketplace stalls.
To purchase these non-refundable tokens students are asked to bring money to school. It is recommended that Primary students purchase no more than $7.00 worth of tokens. Please place money in an envelope for students to hand to their class teacher or House Group teacher no later than Tuesday 21 August. All money raised from the sale of tokens will support Anglicare WA's Street Connect.

The SEEDS Project invites you to a fantastic evening with Maggie Dent as she presents Real Kids in an Unreal World: Building Resilience and Self-esteem in Today's Children (10 Resilience Building Blocks). Children need to have certain basic experiences to build the competencies that will help them manage life - the good, the bad and the ugly.
Maggie has developed a common-sense, practical model of 10 building blocks that will reassure parents that what we have always known to be important in the early years of a child's life is still important. This seminar will offer you practical, common-sense ideas and strategies to make small changes in your home, which will make a big difference to your child's cognitive, physical, psychological, emotional and social health later in life.
