Principal's Announcements

No Bullying!

Last Friday most classes took part in a group photo to note the National Day Against Bullying.  The children have been discussing bullying and how to deal with this type of behaviour in class.

Project Compassion

Well done to everyone who have made such a big effort to raise money for Project Compassion.  Keep the coins coming in!

School Photos

School Photos are taking place tomorrow Thursday 20th March.  If parents could please ensure children are in full school uniform, all hair is tied up and correct ear rings are worn (silver/gold studs or sleepers).

Easter Performance

Please mark in your diaries our Easter Reflection which is taking place on Thursday 4th April at 2pm in the Marian Centre.

Gr 5/6 Camp

It was wonderful to hear the great stories about our Gr 5/6 Camp and the fantastic time they all had in Canberra.  Well done to the children on their excellent behaviour and the staff for spending time away from their families to ensure the camp was a great success.

Mr Butts On Leave

I have been lucky to have been granted Enrichment Leave for all of Term 2 this year.  During this time I will be (hopefully!) completing my Master of Special Education that I have been studying over recent years. Ms Carroll will be Acting Principal in my absence.

School Board AGM

Our School Board AGM took place on Tuesday 12th March.  I am very thankful for the parents who nominated themselves to be parent representatives and I am excited to welcome Mervyn Fernando, Michael DeMaria and Dominic Mandaradoni  onto our Board.  Glenn James was elected again as President and I am very appreciative of the time he gives up to be in this role.

I would like to thank Pete Egglestone and Sharon Ralph for their many years of service to our School Board and wish them every success and blessing for them and their families in the future.  Without generous parents such as these, our school would not run as effectively as it currently does.

School Board Report

At our general Board meeting last week, the following items were discussed:

* The Administration extension tenders have been received and a decision regarding the contract will be made in the coming weeks.

*  The Multi purpose Sports project will begin this week.

*  Plans for new bus shelter and landscaping (old tennis clubrooms area).

*  Staff and student satisfaction surveys were reviewed.  We were very happy with the results and set some goals for future improvements.

*  An evaluation of recent whole school events eg. End of Year Picnic, 2019 Opening BBQ, School Masses etc.

*  VRQA Child Safe Standards Overview and the St Mary’s Child Safe policy.

Parent Teacher Interviews

At the School Board meeting we decided to trial a new system based on goal setting with the students, teachers and parents.  This will take place in Term's 2, 3 and 4 with a greater focus on targeted goals and more options for parents to attend.  Parents will be notified when bookings are available.

More Honours for Mr Preston!!

Mr Preston is up for another award this week being nominated for the Sport For All Awards Ambassador of the Year.  What a remarkable effort to be nominated for another prestigious award.  Let's hope he goes back to back after his Cricket Victoria Ambassador of the Year!!  Good luck Josh.
