We are very excited to introduce our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program at Bimbadeen this year. Your children may be eager to discuss it with you at home and you also may notice some new displays around our school in the coming months.

As part of SWPBS we have developed a new school purpose statement to reflect our core                                 values(see below);

‘At Bimbadeen Heights Primary School, we are committed to providing each child with the opportunity to develop to their full potential, whilst promoting the school values of respect, resilience, integrity and compassion’.

As part of SWPBS we have introduced ‘Skill of the Week’ across all grades within the school. The aim of ‘Skill of the Week’ is to target behaviours we’d like to see an improvement in school wide. Early this term we have been focussing on reducing instances of ‘calling out’, with a focus on raising your hand to speak and providing more opportunities for children to share their ideas.

What does this mean for your child you may ask? Students displaying behaviour that upholds the Bimbadeen values will be given a token by a teacher within the school.  If your child receives 5 values tokens they will be given a special certificate at assembly to acknowledge this. Additional certificates will also be presented at 10 and 20 tokens.

There will be an exciting launch of SWPBS this year and we look forward to introducing our school Mascot ‘Henry the Honeyeater’.

***We are seeking artists in our local community to assist us in making Henry come to life through animated drawings that will capture our children’s attention.  If you are able to assist or know of anyone who may be suitable for this special job please contact the Bimbadeen office ASAP.***

This is a very exciting initiative for our school. It’s great to be able to hand out tokens to acknowledge children upholding our school values and behaving in 'the Bimbadeen way'.

Keep your eyes peeled for more SWPBS news in coming months.

Kind Regards,

                           SWPBS Team
