TERM 2 UPDATE

Term 2 has been a great success for the 71 students in the Sports Pathway Program. The theory unit of Sports Nutrition has given students the information and the skills to identify foods that will help them better prepare for and recover from their sporting events. Students now have an understanding of which foods will give high quality fuel for energy and which foods they should be avoiding.

Students have also continued their hard work on improving strength and conditioning with Collingwood FC coach Luke Kitchen. There have been a number of students who have commented on how their increased fitness levels have led to stronger performances in their sporting competitions.

The year 10 class had the opportunity to visit the Victorian Institute of Sport at Albert Park. Students met professional athletes who took them on a tour of the facilities, spoke about training methods, nutrition and the life of a professional athlete. It was a great insight into the professional sporting field and all students had a fantastic day.

On The 18th of June the two year 9 classes visited Melbourne Storm facilities and AAMI Park. This was a fantastic opportunity to meet Storm coaches/players and have a tour of the world class sporting facility that is AAMI Park.
