School Clubs

Magic Club Update

Magic Club this term saw kids honing both their skills in the game and their social capabilities as a student. Not only were students making faster and more accurate plays, they were able to also display good sportsmanship more consistently such as the shaking of hands and allowing newer students to replay particular mistakes. Over the school holidays, a new set of cards will be released to which the students are looking forward to as well called M19.

Diversity Club

I am so very proud to run Diversity Club at CESC. Every Thursday we meet at lunchtime to hang out together in a safe and supportive environment. Diversity club is about giving every student the opportunity to be themselves and feel comfortable with their peers.

What do we do?

  • Mostly we sit together, eat snacks and chat! We answer questions from the anonymous question box and we watch clips, T.V episodes and films which celebrate diverse people (like Glee!)

Can anyone come?

  • Absolutely! Some students believe that you need to identify as LGBTQI to come to diversity club but we welcome all staff and students.

What is in store for diversity?

  • August 31st is Wear it Purple Day Australia. As a whole school we will be marking this event on Monday the 27th August. All staff and students are asked to wear purple on this day and bring a gold coin donation. A portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Wear It Purple organisation with the remaining money going towards an upcoming whole school event celebrating individuality, enterprise and both physical and mental health.

The Wear it Purple message is simple but vital:

  • Everybody has the right to be proud of who they are.

What they stand for:

  • Every young person is unique, important and worthy of love.
  • No one should be subject to bullying, belittlement or invalidation.
  • We believe in a world in which every young person can thrive, irrelevant of sex, sexuality or gender identity.
