Football Report

The 7th June 2019, saw Katunga Primary School students playing a game of footy against NPS students at the Numurkah Footy Ground. The NPS players were all pumped and ready for the amazing footy game ahead.

The NPS players walked to the oval thinking… we got this. When they got to the football ground they all went for a run and did a few drills in preparation for the game ahead.

All players got into their positions and the ball went up and the ruckman went up and tapped the ball out… the game had begun. Goals were kicked by both sides in the first quarter.

In the second quarter NPS players lifted their game, but the Katunga players were kicking goals and they took the lead as we headed into the third quarter and that was not the way we wanted it to be!

In the third quarter NPS players played a lot better and they kicked goals. Katunga put up a good fight.

In the fourth quarter, NPS players maintained their lead which was great! All NPS players were very happy when the time was up. The final scores were NPS 48 points and Katunga PS 28 points.

Best on ground was Declan Lowden, Jacob Woolley, Aiden Woolley and Bayden Parkinson.

Year 6 Netball Team [The Blues] Game Report

These were the events that unfolded on Friday 7th June when NPS Year Six netball team played Katunga PS. In the first quarter Numurkah scored 9 goals and Katunga scored 0.

The second quarter went really smoothly as Numurkah shot another 3 goals. But in the third quarter things went very slow because no goals were scored!

The fourth quarter was a lot like the second with Numurkah increasing their score by 5 goals.

Best on court were Mitchell Harvey and Kayla Gerity for their amazing shooting, Charlie Payne and Karli Gerdtz-Suffern for getting rid of their player and Keisha Broad for her awesome defending and the rest of the team did a great job too.

We would like to thank Breanna Inglis-Goodliffe for filling in for the players who were absent on the day. We also would like to thank Sarah Titchmarsh and Shae Montgomery for being the umpires of the game against Katunga.

Overall, the game against Katunga was played fairly and it was also a very enjoyable game for all players. The final scores were Numurkah 17 goals and Katunga 0 goals.

Year 5/6 Netball Report

On the 14th June, the NPS Yr 5/6 netball team hopped on the bus and set off to Nathalia. During the bus ride there was a lot of singing going on, especially the song Old Town Road.

We arrived at Nathalia ready to play! Our teams did all their warm ups with Sarah Titchmarsh. When the St. Francis PS teams arrived; we were a bit nervous because they were all so tall.

We started the game off really well, scoring four goals in the first quarter and St Francis didn’t score.

In the second quarter we only scored one goal. St. Francis weren’t ready to give up though and they scored six goals. I think this is where we lost the game.

During the third quarter, everyone was very sore and tired. The ball was just getting taken out of our hands constantly and we only scored two goals. St. Francis scored seven, that’s right seven!

When the buzzer went to go into the last quarter Tessa Warrin said to the girls “We need stick on our players and follow them around!” and Breanna Inglis-Goodliffe said “That’s right! We’ve got to come back, hands in…” We said our chant “Go N.P.S Smashers!”

In the last quarter, we made a bit of a comeback but it wasn’t enough. We scored three goals and the St. Francis team scored two goals.

Overall, I think we played a great game. The final score was 15 to 10 their way.

Best on court where Breanna Inglis-Goodliffe for amazing defending skills, Lily Patrick-Oudeman for great shooting and defending skills and Tessa Warrin for accurate shooting and defending skills.

June 14 – Year 4-5 Netball Report

The NPS Yr 4/5 netball team (Shooting Stars) played a really good game of netball against St. Francis PS. However, on the bus before the game NPS players were all very nervous.

The final score was 19-3 our way; some of the opposite team were not as tall as the NPS players.

All the team made great contributions throughout the game. Best on court was Marli Salter for leading, Ella Parkinson and Monique Greco for effective goal shooting, Skye Young for accurate passes and great defence,  Savina D’Agostino and Mitchell Harvey for defending effectively and Keisha Broad for accurately passing the ball. We all tried our hardest and had fun. It was fantastic to have our first win of the season!

Winter Sports Football Report

On the 14th June 2019, NPS footballers played against Saint Francis P.S. Football Team.

It all began when the footballers and netballers jumped on the bus. It was hectic. Lots of the students were singing all different types of songs like ‘Old Town Road’.

Everybody was nervous when we saw the Saint Francis P.S. football team players walking to the football oval. The Saint Francis team were mostly tall so we had to work out a way to beat them.

The best on field were Tyson Hill, Christopher Bodsworth, Adam Kennedy, Jay Laffan-Moodie and Jorjiah Moody.

The score was Numurkah 2 goals and 3 points and Saint Francis 7 goals 4 points. Overall, it was an excellent game.
