Classroom News - Year 1

Welcome back to school

We have had a great start to Year 1 in 2019. A big thank you to all parents who were able to organise their child's resources for the first week of school. This has made putting class processes in place so much easier for your child. Students have adapted well to the change from Kindergarten to Year 1. Students have worked with their teachers to develop their class agreements and both classes have a Dojo system for rewards. We are still fine tuning how we do things and we are improving each day.

Just a reminder that Year 1 students must enter the building through the Breezeway in the mornings and place their bags on the racks before going to play. Only Kindergarten should be entering through the Kindergarten space.

The last few days has seen us being able to complete Initialit screeners  and complete writing samples. Our literacy block will begin next week. Please ensure that your child is at school prior to the beginning of the school day as this gives them the best possible start for learning.

Please remember that we are heading off to the swimming carnival on Friday. All our students must bring their swimmers and rash shirts in their bags and we will get changed at school before heading down to the pool. Please ensure that ALL your child's belongings are labelled ( this includes, underwear, socks and shoes!). Please apply sunscreen to your child prior to coming to school and then send it along in their bags so that we reapply throughout the day. We are looking forward to a great way to end our first full week at school.
