From the Principal...

Welcome!

Welcome back to the 2019 school year! A special welcome to our many new families from Kindergarten to Year 6 and all our new staff. We look forward to meeting and greeting everyone at our Welcome BBQ on Wednesday 20th February. Before that happens, we have many opportunities to get together including our Swimming Carnival this Friday, our Parent Information Sessions next Monday and our Opening School Mass next Wednesday.

Today our Kindergarten classes commenced. Thank you to Mrs Cameron and Mrs Johnson for all their work with the Best Start Assessments in the lead up to the Kinder classes starting. After a wonderful transition program last year it was lovely to see how well the new Kinders settled into their classrooms.

Thank You!

Over the holidays we had work completed on the area in front of the Year 2 classroom. This area has long been a problem with getting grass to grow and with the help of the P&F we were able to get a new retaining wall built and artificial turf laid. This has become a very popular spot for children to congregate in the shade to sit and play or read. Thank you to the P&F and all our families who have helped with fundraising over the last few years. Thank you to the Parish who also contributed through the Parish Building Fund.

Thank you also to our groundsman Kevin Nelson who worked through the holidays to keep the grounds neat, tidy and watered! Kevin also has commenced painting a number of our seats in the playground. Under the advisement of an arborist we had two trees removed from the playground that were diseased and gradually dying. During the holidays Kevin was able to plant three replacement trees in the playground. We are hoping they will grow quickly and provide more shade than the trees removed.

Parent Information Meetings

We will be holding Parent Information Sessions on Monday 11th February and we hope all families will have at least one parent attend these important meetings.  Working in partnership with parents is an important part of Catholic education and these meetings give teachers the chance to share their hopes, expectations, plans and procedures for their class in 2019.  Session times are:

  • 5:00 pm – Kindergarten
  • 5:20 pm – Year 1
  • 5:40 pm – Year 2
  • 6 pm – Year 3
  • 6:20 pm – Year 4
  • 6:40pm – Year 5
  • 7pm – Year 6

Please note that these information sessions are for Parents and Guardians and we ask you where possible to arrange care for your child/ren at home as there will be no supervision.
