Library News

Welcome

Welcome to a new year in the library. The library is looking great and is a wonderful space for the children to use. There is lots on offer for children to do or a place to come and chill with a book.

Children will borrow from the library during rotational groups this year. Hopefully students can remember and return library books weekly or at least fortnightly. If not the library is open before school and at lunch times on other days for returning.

Therefore borrowing day for  Kinder, year 5 and 6 is Wednesday.

Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 will borrow on Tuesday.

All children should have a library bag. Infants children may borrow 2 books and primary 4.

Children who have not returned books from last year need to do so ASAP so that they may borrow in 2019.

PRC

The Premier’s Reading Challenge begins on the 4th March. After this date I will be able to issue logins for children. You may begin reading books for the challenge and write them down ready to login in March. Please think about taking up the challenge this year. The challenge concludes 30th August.

Junior Librarians

Year 6 children who have an interest in helping in the library are asked to apply for the position of Junior Librarian. Mrs Gollan spoke to all Year 6 students on Wednesday about the role of a Junior Librarian. Expression of interest forms are available in the library.

Scholastic Book Club- issue 1 is out now. Don’t forget to look for the Book Club Issue catalogue that will be coming home in your child’s schoolbag. Book Club provides a fun and convenient way of bringing the best in children's literature into your home. It’s packed full of exciting books from best-selling authors, popular titles and series that kids love, as well as products and books that make perfect gifts for younger siblings who may not be at school yet. Ordering from Book Club is easy—simply go online and place your order through the LOOP system if possible and then Scholastic’s ‘book elves’ take care of the rest. Before you know it, your child will have a lovely surprise to take home once their order gets delivered to their classroom. When ordering from Book Club, you are not only helping your children, but you are also helping your school—20% of your spend goes back to your school in valuable Scholastic Rewards, which are used to buy library/classroom resources. To celebrate the start of the New Year, any family ordering from issue 1 will also receive a free All About Me Activity Journal to help us kick-start our 2019 plans.
