Classroom News - Year 6

Start of the Year

The students have made a great start to 2019. We have five students who are new to the school and it has been wonderful to see how quickly they have formed friendships with their new classmates.  Everybody is settling into class routines and the maturity expected of Year 6 students. Students all now have access to Google Classroom and Studyladder which we will be using throughout the year and can also be accessed from home.

In future newsletters students from Year 6 will be contributing their own information about what is happening in the class and how parents and caregivers can support their learning at home. We find that this helps when students get asked by mum or dad what they did and provide that ageless answer of "I dunno".

Garden Club

Garden club is open to students in Years 5 and 6 and will be held on Mondays during second lunch. This week we started work cleaning up flyblown plums and peaches (netting these trees is a job for next Spring). We were lucky enough to find a tree with plenty of good fruit still on it and that was when the cleaning finished and the eating began.

If any families are able to bring in bags of animal manure for our compost it would be much appreciated. It can be left just inside the top gate near the garden beds or see Mr Garraud if it is larger quantities.
