Year 3 Reconciliation Family Faith Night
On Wednesday night the Year 3 students and their families participated in a Family Faith Night, in preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Thank you to Mr Anderson, Miss Johnston, Father Ian, Mr Berlingeri, Mrs Ferrari and Ms Hill for making it such a successful evening. In dialogue with their parent/carer(s) the students explored what Reconciliation means in a 2020 context. They learnt about the Sacrament of Reconciliation, being one of turning back towards God and being a peace maker. Through song, scripture and art these concepts were explored. We pray for each student in Year 3 as they prepare for this Sacrament of healing. When the students make their Sacrament they need to wear their normal school uniform. When we all gather on Sunday 19th April 5pm Mass, they can dress up and we will hand out certificates and take a group photo.
Ash Wednesday
Next Wednesday 26th February , we begin the season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. Each class will participate in Mass at 9:15am, where we will all receive the ashes. All family members are warmly invited to join us. This season of Lent the focus is “Renewed by the Spirit” – taken from Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation, Gaudete et Exsultate – Rejoice and Exult. This theme reminds us of the call to encounter God and allow him to guide us, giving us the strength to live out our journey of faith and invite others to join us on our way. In their Faith Life unit, Years 5 and 6 students are exploring the concepts of 'Mission' and who and how individuals are called to mission. It is important that our students can witness people enacting our faith, and be inspired to be active informed faith filled global citizens. From the discussions I was involved in yesterday, our students have a great deal to offer our community and the wider world.
Condolences
Our prayers and thoughts are with the Kilburn family with the passing of Warren's mother Pauline. She was a loved grandmother to Will and Maddy and mother- in-law to Paige.
