Wellbeing

Wellbeing and routines

The 2022 school year has been a varied start for our school family. For some it has been a disrupted beginning and for others it has been relatively smooth so far. This would appear to be the “new normal” at this stage. However, I’m sure you’ll all agree that it has been a relief not living with the fear of yet another lockdown hovering over us.

Increasingly, our students will benefit from settling into a regular routine with fewer interruptions. Whilst some students are welcoming a return to routine, others are finding it more difficult. Student wellbeing is significantly supported by good routines. Positive encouragement to keep up with healthy habits of self-care is worthwhile, even if it can be a bit of a battle ground.

In addition, building in rest and relaxation over school evenings and weekends is equally important. Distinguishing clearly between school work and relaxation helps to provide students with structure out of school as well. Parents can assist by setting expectations around study time and putting some boundaries in around internet or gaming access at particular times.

As the school chaplain, my role is to assist with providing wellbeing support to students, school families and staff. I’m available onsite Wednesday and Thursdays. If you have a concern about a student that needs following up, please contact the class teacher, Sabrina George, Marty Gill or myself.

Students are also able to self-refer by either talking to a staff member or posting a note to me in the red box that is situated in the entrance foyer to the school.

To contact me direct, please leave a voicemail on 9726 9989 Ext 402 or email me at annelawrybhps@gmail.com.

Keep on taking care of yourself and your loved ones.
