School Council

The newly formed school council met for the first time on Monday 21st of March. A great thank you to all school councillors for their commitment to the school and congratulations to our elected office bearers for this year:

School council subcommittees were also formed for the year to continue the great work that has been taking place over the time of the previous council. All parents and carers are encouraged to attend subcommittee meetings, no special skills or qualifications are needed, just passion for the school, and a little bit of time. The subcommittees are as follows:

  • Buildings and grounds
  • Finance
  • Policy and education
  • Fundraising and communication

A range of items were discussed at the meeting including:

  • Child safe standards and the new Compass sign in console at the office
  • Development of an exit interview for families who leave the school
  • The importance of parent and carer involvement in the Fieldwork review day of the 29th of April 9-10am
  • Approval of the 2021 School Annual Report
  • Annual reporting meeting to be held in term 2 to present the Annual Report to the school community

School Review

On Wednesday 23rd March, the Validation review day took place here at the school. The panel came together to review the school data, identify key questions for the review and to conduct classroom observations. The panel consisted of members of the school leadership team, Department of Education representatives, our school council president Conrad, the principals from Clifton Hill Primary and Thomastown Primary, and our reviewer Branko Lukic.

The next review day is next Tuesday the 29th of March. We are inviting all parents and carers to attend on this day between 9am and 10am to take part in focus groups. These groups will enable parents and carers to contribute to the review and help set the direction of the school over the next four years.

COVID Safe Practices

We would like to thank everyone for continuing to wear masks in the yard during drop off and pick up time. By wearing your mask, you are helping to protect those in our community who are vulnerable, with COVID numbers in Victoria on the increase. You are also showing support for our Year 3 - 6 students who are still mandated to wear masks while at school.

Compass Kiosk

We have recently set up a Compass Kiosk on the office counter in the foyer. When children are dropped off late or are collected early, parents can now log this at the Kiosk. It’s very simple, as those parents who have used it so far can attest.

You will now also be able to use the Kiosk to sign in as a Visitor for reading, or other school-based activities.  You will need to wear a label for the time you are on site so that students and staff can recognise that you have been to the office.  These will be left alongside the Kiosk for you to complete and attach once signed in.  Please remember to also sign out when leaving the school, as we use this information in case of emergency evacuation.

Easter Egg Guess

Imagine winning all these eggs! Can you guess the magic number?

Enter our fundraising competition to guess how many eggs are in the jar. The comp opens tomorrow at recess (Friday 24th) and ends at assembly on Friday April 1st. $1 per guess. The jars will be on display at the office and SRC representatives will let you know how to enter at tomorrow’s assembly. The first correct guess will win the jar, with a runner-up prize for any matching guesses. One jar for Foundation to Year 2 and one jar for Years 3 to 6. Money raised goes to our school. Good luck!
