SENSATIONAL YEAR 6 GROUPS

On Friday our Year 6 students returned from a fabulous three days at Camp Manyung.  The weather was perfect for the brilliant activities planned, including hours at the beach. These students have not had the opportunity to attend camp since they were in year 3 due to covid restrictions so camp was all the more special for them.

The staff also ‘sang the praises’ of the students for the manner in which they participated in the camp and I would like to publicly thank the CPS staff involved in the camp –  Ms Sue McGregor (as the team leader), Mrs Spataro, Mrs Langson, Miss Bradley, Miss Cochrane, Mrs Slattery, Mr Pollard and Mr Landes. Miss Harley and I were planning on each spending a day at camp to watch students develop teamwork, enjoy outdoor beach and initiative activities and make connections with each other, however covid made this unfeasible as I tested positive during this time. I look forward to returning to school later this week and catching up with the year 6 students to hear the adventures they had on camp.

I hope that you as parents and carers enjoyed some quieter days last week before your children returned full of stories and exhausted from all the fun.

We are so fortunate to have staff that are committed and passionate to ensure our camping programs are of such a high quality.

SCHOOL PHOTOS 2022

Annual school photos including sibling photos will be taken at Carnegie Primary School by Arthur Reed Photos on Wednesday 6th April 2022.

Unique image codes will be issued to all students on/after photo day so families can then register online to view images when they become available in the web shop.

Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.

Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do again this year using your child’s 2022 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details.

When the images are ready to view and in the web shop, all parents who have registered will be notified by SMS and email. There is no need to send any payment at all to school. All transactions occur online. Once registered, please wait for notification that 2022 images are online to view before making your purchase.

WORKING BEE

TERM 2 -SATURDAY 7th MAY

We are planning a working bee that will be held on Saturday 7th May from 10am till 12pm. At this time we will sweep, rake, weed, paint and generally tidy our school grounds. No special skills are required and we welcome all parents and carers to come and help us with this important work. A Compass notification will be sent closer to the date containing further details.

SATURDAY MAY 14th - PREP EXPO

If you are aware of friends, neighbours or relatives who have a child ready to start school in 2023, please let them know that we are planning our annual School Expo for Saturday 14th May, from 10am till 12pm. Families must live in our school zone and this can be checked on https://www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au/

We encourage prospective families to join us on this occasion so we can share many of the fine aspects of our school. Further details will be shared when we return next term.

TRAFFIC REMINDER

I wanted to share with you some worrying occurrences in Graceburn Avenue at the end of the school day. It is an extremely busy, narrow street and young students have recently been seen running across the road during peak time. Please take the time to speak with your children about crossing all roads safely and using crossings if they are close by. Caring for all of our students both inside and beyond the school gates is incredibly important to us as a community. Parents and carers, please also take note of the various parking signs in the vicinity of the school. They are there to keep us all safe.
