News From the Principal

End of Term

A reminder that next Friday (April 8th ) is the end of Term 1. This means that students will be dismissed at 2.20pm and the bus will be at the drop off points one hour ahead of the regular times.

Students are invited to come out of uniform on this day and make a gold coin donation towards the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Students will have two weeks holiday and are set to return to school on TUESDAY April 26th (as the Monday is the ANZAC Day public holiday).

I wish all of our families, staff and the wider Raywood Community a safe and happy Easter and holiday break.

Wishing Hayden Collins and extra safe journey as he takes long service leave for the first half of Term 2. I will be replacing him in the Year 4/5/6 classroom (and I can not wait) with Miss Coffey also working in the room one day per week.

Meet the Raywood Primary School Leaders for 2022

A huge congratulations to Caleb, Jacob and Mason for their wonderful speeches that focused our our new school values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE. Each of our Year Six boys prepared their speeches in their own time  and delivered them to students and staff. It was then up to the audience to vote for the student who they thought best addressed each of the criteria. What a surprise to all of us when each of our students were voted winners in each of the categories- although it was a very close contest in two categories.

We are proud to announce Mason as our RESPECT  Leader, Jacob as our RESPONSIBILITY Leader and Caleb as our RESILIENCE Leader.  The boys winning speeches for the value they were voted to represent are below:

Cross Country Event

On Wednesday April 6th all of our students will compete in the Small Schools Cluster Cross Country Event which will be held at the Elmore Field Days site. Students will travel to and from the event by car. Please make sure you have given permission via the uEducateUs App in order for your child to attend.

Spectators are most welcome, if you are taking your child/ren directly to or from the event, please let us know well in advance so that we do not organise unnecessary transport.  Mr Collins is organising this event for not only our school but five other district schools and we thank him very much for all of his hard work at ensuring this event can run as well as it does.

Walk Safely to School Day

Last Friday we participated in the National Walk/Ride Safety to School Day event. We met at the Recreation Reserve and had a leisurely walk to school. We were joined by  Senior Constable, Paul Chase who came on our walk all kitted up in his Victoria Police gear.

Once at school we enjoyed a healthy breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit, juice, toast and egg & bacon pie. It was a fantastic way to start our day and enjoyed by all.

School Council 2022

On Monday night we held our AGM, followed by the regular March Meeting.

The following persons were nominated and accepted these positions:

President- Yoli Humphries

Vice President- Mitch Davey

Secretary- Bree Blake

Treasurer- Lisa Duffy

Thank you very much to the above people and to our other members of council (Jess, Hayden, Jarrod and Lynley) who will work together to promote our wonderful school and to ensure that everything runs smoothly throughout the year.

Swimming  2022

Thursday March 17th saw us attend our last swimming and water safety session at the Eaglehawk Pool. Whilst the previous five sessions focused upon swimming using correct techniques for arms, legs and breathing, the final session saw our students engaged in water rescues and learning about water survival. Our students were also treated to some fun on the waterslide.  Each of the students should have now bought home a certificate that has their swimming level printed on it.

Clean Up Australia Day

Our students were each presented with a certificate for their excellent community spirit when they participated in the Clean Up Australia Day School Event. Well done, everyone! Below are some of the students with their certificates.

New Facebook Page

Now that we have uEducateUs as a communication tool between school and families, we have decided to make our Facebook Page public. This means we can reach a wider audience and showcase all of the fantastic things we do here at Raywood Primary School. You can find us by searching Raywood Primary School from your Facebook app or use the QR code below to be taken straight there.
