Numeracy in the Preschool

This week the Preschool wanted to share and celebrate how we use play-based experiences to develop children's numeracy skills in relation to the Preschool Numeracy Indicators. This is just one area that our early childhood educators plan for in the joint Preschool and CLP (childcare) curriculum. Our curriculum is regularly visible to families through our window display. It is also displayed indoors for educators. Please speak to an educator if you would like to find out more about our curriculum.

I explore and understand my place and space in the world.

The children were using their knowledge of shape and positioning to make the waffle blocks fit together into a house.

I measure and compare my world.

Raheel can be seen comparing his own height to the height of the house.

I analyse, read and organise the data in my world.

I measure and compare my world.

Lucas organised the data (trucks) around him in size order for his 'car wash play'.

I quantify my world

Jaxon and Sodia were exploring quantity with the large dice. An educator extended Jaxon and Sofia's learning by recording their quantities on paper using numbers.
