Updates and reminders

We are halfway through Term1 and while some Covid restrictions are ongoing we are able to plan for modified parent interviews later this term as well as some of our extra curricular activities such as Basketball at St.Clair and Instrumental Music. We are very proud of our rich learning programs at Woodville Gardens school and so are pleased to be able to engage students in these.

We are also constantly striving to build on achievement and fine tune our teaching and learning practices to progress students from Preschool to Year 6 in all learning areas and as lifelong learners. We are focusing our school improvement work on oral language in the Preschool and on connecting Oral language, Reading and Writing for high quality literacy achievement in Reception to Year 6.

We will talking through this focus more at Governing Council in Week 8, 22nd March at 6pm in the Purple building. Week 8 is also our GC AGM and an opportunity to welcome new members who would like to be involved in the governance of our school. Please contact the Front Office for more information and come along to the AGM to meet Leadership and Governing Council members if you would like to know more.

In Week 9 this term we will be holding Parent Interviews in the gym. Information will be sent home from your child's classroom teacher to explain how to book in a time. In order to comply with Covid restrictions and gym capacity these face to face interviews will be strictly limited to 15 minutes per child and so it is really important to be on time. Should you require a longer appointment your child's classroom teacher will contact you separately to arrange this outside of week 9.

Finally, a reminder about car park safety. Both Carparks are Staff spaces, which minimises any traffic in and out of these areas at school drop off and pick up time. Staff supervision of students is provided on site from 8.30am but we are not able to monitor car parks as well. There has been an increase in parents using the front carpark for drop offs and pick ups, reversing in and out while children are walking through. Please remember that the site is not large enough to provide on site parking for all families and that street parking is the appropriate option. With no year 7 students and families we hope that reduced numbers make street parking easier. While road works and traffic still means that you need to take care and that the normal road safety rules apply children supervised by families to enter the school safety is the safest option for all and we thank you for your support in this.
