Meet Our College Captains

2022

Gillian Donaire, College Captain, Clyde North Campus

What do you see as your role as a leader?

As a leader, I see myself to be a servant leader toward my peers. Serving and guiding the fellow students within the school community ensuring they all reach their full potential at St. Peter’s College.

What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?

As a student at St. Peter’s College, I love the diverse community we have. I enjoy being able to walk around school and see a smile on everyone’s faces. The school environment is always so welcoming and friendly, ensuring each student feels as if they belonged to the St. Peter’s family.

Who is the one person you admire most and why?

My mum is who I look up to the most.

She has shaped me into the person I am today and without her being my side, I would not have been able to do the things I have achieved in my life.

What are your goals as Captain in 2022?

After the many lockdowns, we are finally back on campus! Therefore, my main goal is to bridge the gap that COVID has caused between all of us. I aim to rebuild the amazing school community St. Peter’s College has and bring back the school spirit onto campus. I wish for every student at St. Peter’s College to feel as if they are back at home and have the longing to learn. In doing so bringing everyone together through fun activities during lunchtime or pastoral period, giving students the opportunity to bond and collaborate with their peers.

How will you live this statement through your leadership role?

As a student, this statement stood out to me. With all the past uncertainties with Covid, anything can happen. Being a leader, I will ensure I am always ready for action whether that be helping out another student or fulfilling a task as College Captain. I will be living out this statement by making sure the year of 2022 is the best possible year, ready for anything that may come my way.

In one sentence what is the one thing that you would like to say to your fellow students?

If you are ever presented with an opportunity, never pass up on it. Be not afraid, face it head one and give it your best shot!

What do you see as your role as a leader?

I believe as a servant leader at St. Peter's College, I am called to lead by example and serve the community. Whether this entails being an ambassador for the students or simply just being someone nice to talk to in the school yard, my role encompasses helping those around me.

What is one of the positives about being a student at St. Peter's College?

One of the best things about being a student at St. Peter's College is having a wide variety of learning paths to choose from. Whether that be an academic pathway or other, there always seems to be something that  everyone can enjoy.

Who is the one person you admire most and why?

There are many people I admire based on how they live their life and affect the people around them. However, the person I admire the most is a family friend named John. I admire him because of his positive approach to life and strong belief in God. He lives his life in a way that inspires me to live life to the full; that no matter what stage of life you are in or how far you are in your journey, there is always a choice on how you live life.

What are your goals as Captain in 2022?

As a servant leader, I have many aspirations and hopes for 2022. I hope to kickstart and relaunch our school into a community thriving and progressing; even better than before. Practically speaking, I hope to relaunch activities that were lost to Covid and possibly implement new activities that will help nurture the student’s approach to life in a positive way.

How will you live this statement through your leadership role?

The past few years have been a real challenge for us all, with Covid being the main cause of many hardships. I believe we are called to pick up the pieces left in the wake of Covid, to progress as a school centered in Christ. Therefore, we must prepare our minds for action. We have a lot to rebuild and relaunch as a community, let’s all be prepared for what the year of 2022 will bring!

In one sentence what is the one thing that you would like to say to your fellow students?

‘Never’ lose hope for a better tomorrow.
