NAPLAN 2022

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Years 7 & 9 students are held in May each year. In 2022, the NAPLAN Online test window is between Tuesday 10 May and Friday 20 May. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals and can be used to improve student achievement.

Beaumaris Secondary College will be transitioning to the online platform this year. NAPLAN Online delivers numerous benefits including:

  • A ‘tailored test’ design that adapts to correct and incorrect student responses providing a more precise understanding of student achievement.
  • Innovative use of technology, including a more engaging test design and a wider range of item types.
  • The extension of the ‘test window’ to two weeks, allowing schools greater opportunity to schedule the tests at times that suit them best and increasing student participation.

To ensure that the school is well prepared for the move to the online platform, the following will be taking place this term:

Week 8 - March 23 (Session 1)

School Readiness Test (45 minutes)
  • Year 7 students will sit the Omnibus Practice test in session 1 (Location: normal learning spaces). Students will need headphones for this test.
  • Year 9 students will sit the Omnibus Practice test in session 4 (Location: S15-S19). Students will need headphones for this test.

The purpose of this test is to check our system can support two cohorts sitting NAPLAN at the same time and to expose students to the platform, supports available and types of questions they will experience in the tests.

Week 8 - March 24 (11.30am)

National Co-ordinated Practice Test (42 minutes)
  • Year 7 & Year 9 students will sit the Practice Writing Test.
  • Year 9 students in GOAL Groups (in S15A to S19).
  • Year 7 students in learning teams (scheduled learning spaces).

All schools must participate in this nation-wide practice test, this is to ensure the platform can support the traffic during the testing period.

The school times will be adjusted to accommodate this test (adjusted times are highlighted below):

Session 18.50am - 10.05am
Break 110.05am - 10.20am
