Around The Primary
Dear Parents
The Monster Cake Sale was a resounding success today! The students were delighted with their purchases. Special thanks to our energetic and creative Year 6 leaders for organising this fundraising event for Project Compassion. A total of $1,000 was raised for this worthy cause. I also take this opportunity to thank Miss Hubbard and Mrs Reddell for coordinating this event and the Year 6 parents for their efforts at home.
Parent Teacher Online Meetings commence on Monday 28 March (Please note: This is a Pupil Free Day). We hope all parents and caregivers will connect with teachers in this way, to learn more about where your child is at, and find out about possible recommendations and celebrations too! Booking details can be found here:

A big thank you to those families who have been keeping their children at home if they are unwell, waiting on a test result or quarantining due to a parent or sibling with COVID. Please spare a thought for any families who are currently in quarantine. The good news is that because the close contact rules have changed, children can move between home and school, however they still need to quarantine at home.
If you do have any concerns about your child not feeling well and displaying possible COVID-19 symptoms, please do not send them to school and undertake testing. The more we can work together, the more likely a positive outcome can be achieved for all involved.
With so much going on in the world, on our Eastern seaboard, in WA and in our local context here at school, the weekends are really a good time to pause, to take a breath, and to draw upon our faith for the endurance, guidance and wisdom we all need to keep moving forward, in a positive, grateful and hope-filled direction.
Enjoy the weekend!
Kind regards,
Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary

NAPLAN 2022
We are currently preparing for The National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy which will take place in May. Students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be assessed in the areas of Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy.
Assessments are a normal part of the teaching and learning cycle so there is no need for students to feel under added pressure during NAPLAN. Year 3 and 5 classroom teachers will spend time with their students teaching them how to navigate the screen when using the Online assessment platform.
We encourage the students to approach the assessments with a positive mindset and to try their best.

Project Compassion
Our John XXIII Community continues to work together to ‘Seek Justice’.
This year the donations for Project Compassion are incredible! Each week we continue to be amazed by the generosity of our families and the genuine interest the students are expressing towards the wellbeing of others and the world that we live in.
Each week the students deliver their class donations to the front office and proudly add their total to the growing tally. We are very excited to continue raising money during the next three weeks of Lent.
All funds collected at the ‘Monster Cake Stall’ will also be donated to Project Compassion.
A heart felt thank you to you all.
Teddy Bears
To celebrate the start of Pre-Kindy at John XXIII College, the students have been given an ‘Early Companions Teddy’. We hope that the ‘Teddy’ will enjoy many learning adventures with our three year old’s and become a source of comfort and identity as they continue their educational journey at the College.
Counsellor's Corner
This week I thought a good idea might be to look at something positive and beyond COVID. John XXIII College has a membership with Parenting Ideas and as part of this membership, parents and guardians you can attend the upcoming webinar at no cost.
