TIRKANDI  LIBRARY  NEWS

Term 2 Week 6

Getting to know the children through a buzzing hub of activity like the Tirkandi library is such an excellent way to learn about their multi-faceted reading interests and what kind of literature makes them feel excited and sparks enjoyment. One of my goals for the library is that it can continue to be a place where children can constantly discover and enjoy brand new books – ranging from all new picture fiction, junior fiction series and fiction for the older readers.

Some of the most popular books remain to be Pearl the Unicorn, Hey Jack!, Fly Guy, Captain Underpants, Anh Do series, The Bad Guys, Lily the Elf and Ella and Olivia. To ensure all children have easy access to borrowing these popular series, these books are always on the lookout to be brought into our library. I would love to ensure that the children have their favourite items readily available for borrowing at all times!

I am always happy to hear student’s book recommendations and reading interests as enquiring into this really helps the library space feel fresh, updated and relevant to the children’s needs.

With Book Week coming up in August, there is a display in the library currently showcasing some of the CBCA (Children’s Book Council of Australia) Shortlisted books for 2019. Students can reserve these items and will be notified by their teachers when they are ready for borrowing. It would be great to get these books into circulation so the children can familiarise themselves with these celebrated resources early on before Book Week commences later in the year.

Please feel welcome to visit Tirkandi and say hello! If you have any questions regarding any library matters, please do not hesitate to ask me. Just a reminder of my library hours during the week:

Monday, Tuesday, Friday – Before school

Wednesday, Thursday – After school

TERM 2 SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

The Issue 4 Book Club catalogue will be sent home with your child/ren very soon, ready for orders to be delivered before the school holidays. LOOP (Linked Online Ordering & Payment platform) is the easiest way to make Book Club payments and I encourage the use of this online platform to ensure the efficiency of orders and deliveries. Please see the attachments below for more information.

Just a reminder that the Premier’s Reading Challenge will finish on the 6th September 2019. Students are only required to complete one sheet to gain an award and completed sheets can be handed in to the library.
