News from

our Parish

Our parish is one of the biggest parishes in Tasmania. We cover an area from Risdon Vale through to South Arm and out to Cambridge. In our parish we have three churches where Mass is celebrated every weekend, as well as during the week. We have the Church of Incarnation at Lindisfarne, Corpus Christi Church at Bellerive and one we hope you are very familiar with - John Paul II Church at Rokeby!

We also have three primary schools as well as one high school in our parish – John Paul II Catholic School, Corpus Christi Catholic School, St Cuthbert’s Catholic School and MacKillop College. We also have five aged care facilities in our parish and lots and lots of people. Altogether we make one parish family! Each one of you and your families are very important members of our family of faith in the Bellerive Parish.

You’re Invited -

World Day for Grandparents

There are lots of things happening in our parish, and if you’re not already, we hope you can get involved in some of the things we have going on. One very special event coming up soon is World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on Sunday 24 July. This day was started by Pope Francis last year and he hopes it will continue every year to celebrate the great gift of our grandparents and older members of our community to make sure they are remembered and valued.

Here is how you can get involved:

  • Create a poster celebrating your Grandparent and/or Elderly Family Friend that will be placed in the church so we can pray for them. You can get a poster to complete from any of our parish Masses or from Mrs Davies at school.
  • Invite your grandparent(s) and or elderly family friend or neighbour to come to Mass with you on World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, we will be celebrating these special people in our lives that day. Invitations also available from Mrs Davies.
  • You can come to any Mass with your grandparent/elderly family friend that Sunday, however, we will have a special Family Mass at the 10.30am Mass at Corpus Christi Church. This will have great music from our Family Mass and additional engaging elements for and by children.
  • Do something fun with your grandparents after Mass or if you know someone who can’t physically make it to Mass, maybe you could go and visit them on your way home.

We look forward to seeing you, your family, grandparents and elderly family friends in a big parish celebration honouring our Grandparents and Elderly Family Friends on Sunday 24 July!
