SOUTHERN METROPOLITAN REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

On Wednesday 15th June, 12 of our students competed in the Southern Metropolitan Cross Country competition. The standard of competition at this level is extremely high, and for all of our students, this was their first experience running at this level. All students performed to the best of their ability on the day. Congratulations:

• 10 Years Girls: Ryder M (4/26) – unfortunately had to pull out due to illness
• 10 Years Boys: Archie Mi (4/19) 63rd 
• 11 Years Girls: Ali C (6/5) – unfortunately had to pull out due to illness
• 11 Years Boys: Hamish C (5/11) 19th, Tahj W (5/10) 32nd, Knox W (4/20) 55th, Hudson W (4/20) 58th
• 12/13 Years Girls: Bridie C (6/7) 25th, Olivia B (6/7) 27th 
• 12/13 Years Boys: Ashton H (6/7) 8th, Jordan D (6/5) 50th, Tom N (6/6) 70th

Finishing in the Top 12, Ashton will be competing at the State Competition next term. Good luck Ashton!! 

YEAR 5/6 GIRLS FOOTBALL - MURDOCH DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

On Wednesday 22nd June, 18 excited Year 5 and 6 girls walked to Lloyd Park to play the Murdoch District Girls Football Lightning Premiership. "In tow", were 4 the Year 6 boy coaches - Ashton H, Cooper W, Jordan D and Max K, as well as, Assistant Coach, Ms O'Neill.

The girls had to play each of the District schools - Woodlands, Pearcedale, Langwarrin, Somerville Rise, Somerville and Baxter. Their first match against Langwarrin was a very tight contest, and girls just snuck home 3 - 2. In their second match, the girls beat Somerville (a much smaller school) convincingly. Maintaining a positive outlook and with great coaching from the boys, the girls managed to beat a very strong Pearcedale team, 

3 - 0. The next two matches were against Baxter and Somerville Rise, both small schools who had a mixture of Year 4, 5 and 6 students, the girls dominated in these games. The last game was against Woodlands, always a strong opposition. Even though Woodlands lost their first two games, they were still playing well, so the girls knew the game would be tough. They had to win to become District champions. With the wind, Woodlands had a 

12 - 0 lead at half time. Remaining focused and with a few positional changes by the boys, the girls were dominate in the second half to winning the game 20 - 13. 

The girls will now be competing in the Divisional finals on Wednesday 20th July.
