Year 10 Work Experience

 

As part of the year 10 curriculum, students recently had the opportunity to complete a week of work experience in a field of their choice. 

 

Work Experience is an opportunity for students to explore possible career choices. The school acknowledges the important role work experience plays in career planning, course and subject selection.

 

Mrs Beth Crossman and Mrs Joelle McColl visited a handful of worksites to explore the experience the students were having.

 

 

Students felt the experience was worthwhile, and many seemed interested in pursuing the field as a possible career option. The experience gave them the opportunity to: 

  1. explore career options
  2. understand employer expectations
  3. develop employability skills
  4. increase their self-understanding, independence and self-confidence and maturity 

The feedback from our host employers was exceptional. Students were punctual, showing initiative, enthusiastic and well mannered. Some students were offered casual work at the conclusion of their week.
