Year 6 Camp
I had a wonderful time at the Narmbool Camp with the Year 6 students. Despite the changeable weather; sunshine, wind, rain, hail, and everything in between, the students participated in a variety of teambuilding activities with enthusiasm, demonstrating growing resilience across the two days. Students followed complicated clues to locate various ‘critters’ hiding across the large campsite, they collaborated to get across a pretend lava pit and got to meet George, a large ram who stole everyone’s heart.
In the evening, students enjoyed sitting together and sharing a delicious meal of chicken schnitzel, vegetables and gravy and mini pavlovas. After dinner students participated in “Narmbool has Talent” or as the older staff who remember this from our TV days called it “Red faces”. We were all surprised at the diversity of talents students displayed. We laughed and enjoyed comedians, storytellers, actors, and singers. I know the students were also amused by the teachers performing a dance.
As always when I have attended camp, bedtime was a bit of a challenge as students excitement continued late into the night. Eventually, exhaustion took over and they enjoyed the warm cosiness of their rooms. The students were well behaved, and we got some lovely feedback from the staff at the camp regarding how nice our students are.
It was interesting to learn that the camp was established on land donated to Sovereign Hill by a generous, retired farming couple, Andrew and Robyn. I am sure you can see from the photos that it is a stunning area with a very interesting landscape created millions of years ago by a volcano which is now known as Mount Buninyong.
I would like to thank Mr. Murphy, Ms. Koseler, Mr. Camilleri, Mrs. Bettin and Mrs. Willison, who attended the camp and were away from their own families to provide this opportunity for your children. I know that you appreciate their support. You will find photos from this camp in the Year 6 Narmbool Camp section of this newsletter.
Glasses for Kids
It was great to see many of our students getting their eyes checked and taking advantage of this free program. I hope your new glasses make it easier for you to learn.
Vaccination Hub
The Vaccination Hub will operate next Wednesday after school. You will be able to get both a Covid and a flu vaccine. Please enter via the Hogan Street gate into the end of the main building where medical staff will be in the Chinese classroom (Room 2).
