From the Deputy Principal

Megan Nertney

A very warm welcome to the Living Waters community for the beginning of Term 3! I trust that you had some valuable family time during the holidays and your child is ready for another action-packed term of learning and fun.

This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC Week. We have had great fun experiencing several different activities throughout the week including craft, jewellery making, story time, bush medicine, bush food, and a smoking ceremony.  Check the NAIDOC Week page in this newsletter and our Facebook page for photos.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. NAIDOC originally stood for ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’. This committee was once responsible for organising national activities during NAIDOC Week and its acronym has since become the name of the week itself. Thank you to King’s Narrative for providing these activities for us.

We are looking forward to another great term. As always, we expect each term to be very busy, full of wonderful opportunities for our students. I encourage all families to read the newsletter each week as this is our primary means of communicating with you and informing you of school events.
