Mr Abdala

“Evangelisation is the mission of the Church, not just of a few,

but my, your, our mission”.

Pope Francis

Dearest Marian Community,

Semester 1 proved to be very successful with our College coming together and demonstrating the Marian spirit that brings our College to life. Semester 2 will be filled with many opportunities to demonstrate our call to be disciples of Christ.

In the encyclical Christus Vivit: Christ Lives, Pope Francis writes an immensely personal letter to young people, and to the entire People of God. Pope Francis offers guidance to young people, exploring vocation discernment and encouraging friendship with Jesus. One of the ideas that is presented by Pope Francis in this encyclical is the importance of mission and the participation of young people in mission. As you read through my article, I ask that you reflect on the contribution to Mission our young people are making, not only within our College, but throughout our local community also. I would like to offer a challenge to our students, staff body and our community. How can you participate in living the mission of the Catholic Church? As Pope Francis teaches us “We are all missionary disciples”.

Term 3 Mission Project - MCC Kindness Project

This term, we have introduced a new mission project titled The MCC Kindness Project, which aims to put into practice the teaching of love and ensuring that in our everyday lives, we demonstrate our virtues of faith, care, compassion and love. Living a life of mission in your everyday life can mean more than contributing to a charitable project. Sometimes a simple act of kindness can make all the difference in someone's life. The MCC Kindness Project challenges staff, students and the Marian Catholic College community to live a life of kindness. As my initial quote from Pope Francis states, evangelisation is the mission of the Church, though it is up to us, as people of faith,  to bring that to life and like the Church spread The Good News.

It starts with you. Accept the challenge and live each day with kindness. You’ll never know the difference you could make.

Feast of the Assumption of Mary

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important feast days of the year and a Holy Day of Obligation on the official Roman Catholic Church calendar. By tradition, the holy day is observed every year on August 15th. This year, the Feast of the Assumption occurs on Monday, August 15, 2022. According to Roman Catholic theology, Mary was "assumed body and soul into heavenly glory" several years after her son, Jesus, ascended into heaven. The importance of this event in Mary's life is only surpassed by her role in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. The moment of Mary's ascension into heaven has been depicted in dozens of painting masterpieces and became a central theme in Renaissance art.

Youth Mass

This term, Year 7 and 8 will be hosting a Youth Mass. The date that is set for the Mass is 28/08/2022 which falls at the end of Week 6. We hope to encourage not only the students from these years groups, but also the College to show up in support of our students involved with the readings and choir. If you have an interest in being a reader or  expressing your musical talents, I encourage you to see Ms Foschi, Mr Morris or Mr Segrave. It is important that our youth maintain their relationship with God through attending weekly Mass services. Our Youth Mass gives our students the opportunity to add their personal touch to Mass and deepen their connection with the Church.

Date: Sunday 28th August

Location: Marcellin Hall - Marian Catholic College

Time: 9:00am

My hope is that we continue to demonstrate our College spirit through living the Marian Way. In a world where you can be anything, be kind. Always remember, how can you have a positive change in our world?

“Small acts of kindness, when multiplied by millions can transform the world!”
