Leader of Faith Formation and Mission Mr Gabriel Abdala has included a quote from Pope Francis in his article on how we can be Christ to each other by living our faith in practical ways. Pope Francis put it this way…

“Evangelisation is the mission of the Church, not just of a few,

but my, your, our mission”.

Pope Francis

Please take a moment to read what Mr Abdala has put together to explain our Marian Term Three “Kindness Project”

Dear Parents, Students and Friends

Congratulations to all award recipients at the Year 7-10 Semester One Award Assemblies held last week. Results are very strong across these cohorts with approximately twenty-three percent of all students attaining the high level of a Principal Academic Award for outstanding achievement across all subjects. I mentioned at these ceremonies that this is consistent with previous years so it is pleasing with so many interruptions due to Covid and influenza that students and teachers are still doing their best in the classrooms.

I thank parents as well because these results reflect the effort and support from everyone at home as well. Finally, it is encouraging to see so many students receive their first award. It takes self belief and hard work to attain success at any level and it always begins with yourself. The power of a positive mindset and to find a way to become successful commences with that initial self belief and the college will support you along the way. Well done!

Year Twelve start their HSC Trial Examinations on Monday and they continue for the next two weeks. I wish them well on behalf of everyone. Do your best year Twelve. Please keep them in your prayers.

Year Ten have today spent time at the local Careers Expo, at the Exies Club. I attended with them and they were a credit to the school. They also begin the Preliminary HSC course selection information process so hopefully they have found the time speaking with employers useful. Further into this newsletter Mr Seers outlines the course selection process for students moving from Year 10 into Year 11 2023.

Finally, today I notified the community that College Business Manager Mrs Joanne Smith has made a decision to retire  after 14 years at Marian, she will finish up at the end of this term, firstly taking Long Service Leave in Term Four.

Modest and unassuming in all that she has achieved, the College would not be in such a wonderful position with our outstanding buildings, facilities and financially sound position, without her guidance, professionalism, dedication and talents.

Joanne has made a magnificent contribution to the school and will be missed by all. On behalf of the community, thank you Joanne for all that you have done at Marian and we wish you happy retirement in the near future.

The position of Business Manager and a new position of Senior Facilities Officer will be advertised as of next week.

Peace and Best Wishes
