Message from Lauren Nummy:

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our World Vision children, Morsalin and Djeneba, this year.

We raised $814, and this is only from terms 2 to 4, as we did not do collections in term 1 due to Covid-19.

This will start up again next year on Fridays.

And a huge thank you from all of us to Lauren for helping change the world for these two children.

There is a wonderful opportunity for children interested in a Vet-Science career to learn valuable animal-handling techniques over the holiday break.

Handling docile cats or kittens takes no skill. But interacting with a timid cat, without harming either yourself or the cat, is a skill that must be taught and learnt.

Additionally, the methodically staged ‘process’ of turning a timid cat into a relaxed, trusting pet … is a series of step-by-step techniques and hands-on skills which will benefit anyone interested in pursuing a vet or vet-nursing career.

This opportunity will be of mutual benefit both to the children and the animals. They will foster 1 to 2 cats or kittens during the holidays with full instruction and support. All cats/kittens are healthy, desexed, microchipped, and flea and worm treated. Because they begin in a large 1.2m crate (supplied), there will be no mess. All will be litter trained.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE – INSTRUCTION WILL ALWAYS BE GIVEN WITH A PARENT IN ATTENDANCE.

If the children finally wish to keep the cats, they just need to apply. If granted, there will be no charge. We absorb all the costs. For us, those costs amount to over $300/cat or kitten.

Cages will be supplied. If the family can donate food and litter, that would be helpful. Only children remaining in Auckland over the break are eligible to participate.

If any children are interested in this opportunity, their parent or guardian must contact …. Maria La Frenais (Ph 0220109068).
