Smart Uses for Artificial Intelligence :

There are some pretty clever Artificial Intelligence tools out there. The article preceding this one looked at how we can prepare our learners to stay competitive in an AI world.

This page shares a few AI tools out there that may be of use. To start with, ChatGPT, as introduced in the preceding article.

I asked it, "how can we compete with Artificial Intelligence?" Here was the answer generated by the AI behind ChatGPT.

"Competing with artificial intelligence (AI) is a complex challenge that depends on many factors, including the specific application of AI and the resources available to the individual or organisation trying to compete. In general, competing with AI may involve developing one's own AI capabilities, finding ways to work with AI in a complementary manner, or pursuing strategies that leverage unique human strengths such as creativity and interpersonal skills. It's also important to stay informed about the latest developments in AI and to continuously learn and adapt to stay competitive."

You will notice it shared a point I made in the preceding article.

GFP-GAN is a new Free AI tool that can fix most old photos instantly.

GFP-GAN (Generative Facial Prior-Generative Adversarial Network) was developed by Tencent researchers by merging info from two AI models to fill in a photo’s missing details with realistic detail in a few seconds, all the while maintaining high accuracy and quality. The results are very impressive and work well even with very low-quality images.

You can try a demo of GFP-GAN for free.

DALL·E 2 by Open AI is a new AI system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language. It can create original, realistic images and art from a text description. It can combine concepts, attributes, and styles. Worth playing around with; the website has several examples to inspire you. It’s completely free to use - for a limited number of images per month.

Here are two images I requested by typing in "turtle in a Santa outfit" and "purple and green turtle going on a summer holiday."

Notion.ai — CopyWriter

Notion is testing a new feature called Notion AI to create content. All you have to do is tell the app what you want — a blog post, a recruiting email template, a list of great business books to read- and the app creates the content right in front of your eyes. A lot of users love Notion for note-taking, and this will take it to the next level. I signed up to test it but am on the waiting list...

Lalal.ai — Audio Stem Splitter

Lalal uses artificial intelligence to remove vocals and conduct music source separation fast, easy, and precise stem extraction. You can remove vocal, instrumental, drums, bass, piano, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and synthesizer tracks without quality loss. It makes creativity painless! You can start playing around as it gives you 10 minutes free, but the paying models are also very reasonable. 15 dollars US for a one-time fee allowing 90 minutes of processing, will get you far.

Before knowing about this, I had to hunt around hard to find a music version of "Take Me Home Country Roads" by John Denver so we could record a new vocal track with lyrics specific to Western Heights. Many of our junior school parents will have heard our juniors singing it at our Christmas concert last week.

Having this app would have made my life much easier. My next plan is to isolate and remove the vocals from Sister Sledge's "We Are Family" and write our own WHS lyrics for this too.
