What's Happening at CHPS

Chickens Anyone?

A Happy December to all the families at CHPS. It is the time of year when the Science and Sustainability team are looking for help with our chickens over the summer break.

If you would like to take a turn feeding and watering the hens, in exchange for awesome golden eggs, could you contact Mr Crook and inform him of your interest and the days that you are available.

Thanks very much, in advance.

Billy Cart & Soap Box Derby

A reminder the annual Billy Cart (year 5-6) and Soap Box Derby (P-4) event will take place on the final day of school. If your child would like to participate, it is very important that you fill in the participation form by Monday 12th December, so we know race numbers.

Billy Cart, Y5/6 only  - two people, helmets are mandatory.

Soap Box Derby, Prep-4 only  - two people must fit in the cardboard box and the box must stay intact for the duration of the race.

All races will require teams to negotiate obstacles on the main oval and a changeover of the driver and caboose in the 'pit stop' area.

Happy Creating!

Library News

All student library books are now due back in the Library, as I have commenced stocktake. I understand that the re-carpeting of the library has caused disruptions to the returning of library books but it is now time to return them. As of yesterday (Wednesday) students still had 183 books out on loan. These books have a total value of $2415.00. I aim to get emails sent to parents/guardians shortly if books are still outstanding.

If your child has an overdue book at the end of the year it does not magically disappear from the system – it is carried over to next year and your child will not be able to borrow until this is rectified. If your child is not returning next year it is even more important to get the books back as soon as possible. If you have previously paid for a lost book and it turns up in good condition during stocktake (sometimes it has been in the classroom and is only found when tubs are cleaned out or teachers return their books. Other times it is found in the library in the wrong spot) your money will be credited to your school account and you will be notified. Unless it is a very popular title I do not purchase a replacement until after stocktake for this reason.

Food For Families

Last call out for donations to this very worthy cause, as boxes will be collected next Tuesday.

We are proud to join with Uniting in collecting non-perishable food items to brighten the Christmas period for families in need.  Collection boxes are in the foyer for our community to leave donations of non-perishable foodstuffs and personal care products, which will be distributed through Uniting in the weeks before Christmas.

We thank our families for their continuing generosity.
