I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of Assistant Principal at Croydon Hills Primary while Amy Prior is on leave. Having taught at the school for many years, I know what an amazing school community we have!
Prep - Year 2 Sports Day
The Prep and Years 1 and 2 students enjoyed a fun-filled Sports Day this Wednesday. Activities included karate fitness, tug-of-war, dance, and even an inflatable zorb! It was wonderful to see all students joining in with enthusiasm and big smiles. Thanks to Laura Yorke for organising this event for our students.
Highlighting Student Work
Last week, I was visited by a very talented budding author, Isobel Curtin in PEC. What a wonderful story she created! It included important messages about kindness and standing up for yourself. Well done Isobel! I welcome student visits to my office anytime and love to see the incredible work our students produce.
Books, books and more books!
One of my passions is reading and sharing my love of books with students. As we head towards the summer holidays, it is so important to encourage continued reading for your child over the holidays. Read aloud to your child/ren (even the older ones!) and share books you love together. Here are just a few of the benefits of reading a broad range of books to/with your child:
- It builds imagination
- It builds general knowledge and vocabulary
- Reading skills are improved and reinforced
- Empathy and cultural sensitivity is increased
- It provides a model of fluent reading
- It can promote discussion around a range of important issues
