Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations to our senior cricket teams, girls and boys who had won their way through to Regional Championships in Ballarat where they played yesterday. When I spoke to Mr Richardson, who accompanied them, his immediate response was about how fantastic our kids were. What good sports, how well they behaved and about how much the children enjoyed the day.
I had to ask a more direct question to find out whether they had progressed through to State finals. Jeremy’s priority was exactly right, wasn’t it? As parents and as teachers we know qualities like good sportsmanship, respect for others, teamwork and enjoying physical activity in a team environment are the real attributes that we would want for our children.
The Grade 6 students were a credit to their parents and themselves on last week’s camp in Hall’s Gap. Well done to all staff and students. Today our Grade 2 students are at the Werribee Zoo, our Grade 5 classes are going hiking and fishing on Friday and our Grade 3 classes are now going camping on the 12th & 13th of December staying out at Coragulac. Again thank you to our staff for the sacrifices they make to provide these opportunities for our students.
TRANSITION DAY Next Tuesday, December 6th we look forward to welcoming 54 kindergarten children into our school between 11:30am to 1:00pm as they begin their transition into our primary school.
Our current Grade 6 students will spend all of next Tuesday at their chosen secondary school.
All other students will spend time with their 2023 class. We look forward to welcoming our new teachers: Shantelle, Tom, Lauren, Jayden and Hayley also next Tuesday, so the children will meet these new teachers as well.
KRIS KINDLE At last Sunday’s Mass Fr Michael lit the first of the four candles on the Advent Wreath signalling the beginning of Advent. Advent is that season in the Church year where we prepare ourselves for the coming of our saviour, Jesus Christ at Christmas.
Our school’s Religious Education program will also concentrate on Advent and the birth of the baby Jesus at this time of year.
One of our traditions in support of this is the Kris Kindle program. In every class the teacher will organise for the children to secretly draw out the name of a classmate from a hat. The children then commit to endeavouring to go out of their way to look after this person in small but special ways during Advent. They might simply ensure that they greet this person happily each day. They might invite them to play at recess or share their textas etc with them. In this way bringing a spirit of peace, joy and hope into our school.
The children are then asked to bring a small ($5) gift for this child to be placed under the class Christmas Tree. The gift should be wrapped and addressed as follows: “Merry Christmas ………” (insert the name of the child for whom the gift is intended) “from your K.K.”
END OF YEAR REPORTS The children’s end of year reports will be available for parents to read via PAM from Friday December 16th. This is the last day of classes for 2022. Our staff will be here on Monday December 19th upgrading their First Aid qualifications and on Tuesday December 20th packing up, cleaning up and preparing for 2023.
GRADUATION Our Grade 6 class will Graduate from primary school at a ceremony at 6:00pm-6:30pm on Thursday, December 8th at the Jubilee Centre at Trinity College.
Given that we have a smaller graduating class and no Covid-19 restrictions this year children may be accompanied by immediate family and grandparents if they choose.
BEGINNING 2023 Some early notice, 2023 will begin for our teachers on Friday January 27th with training and preparation.
Classes for the children will resume on Monday, January 30th.
