Parents as Partners to tackle Cyber Safety at home

This Newsletter we will be exploring how to keep your child safe while using technology over the holidays.

 

Many of our students will be using technology over the holidays to communicate with their friends. Unfortunately, technology opens up the door not only to their friends, but to the public. 

 

Technology can also be really addictive. Our students can easily spend hours looking at screens without even realising how much time has passed.

 

We encourage you to set up an agreement with your child at the beginning of the holidays. Some points you might want to discuss include:

  • How much time are they going to be on screens each day?
  • What technology are they going to use?
  • What websites/ apps are they going to use?
  • Who are they going to communicate with?
  • Where are they going to use technology?
  • What should they do if they come across something that makes them upset or uncomfortable?
