Women in Trades

Ballarat High School was recently invited to participate in a Women in Trades event hosted by the Highlands LLEN and Platinum Institute. 18 of our students participated across Years 9 and 10.

The day was fantastic with presentations by women who are current/past apprentices and provided an opportunity for our students to chat with Ballarat agencies supporting women in trades. The girls were given instruction and training by the staff of Platinum Institute and built a cubby house.

The students engaged very positively in the program and worked hard all day. The feedback from the girls was that they thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt a lot. The students should feel proud of the way they represented themselves and Ballarat High School.

At the completion of the event, it was decided to donate the cubby house to the Ballarat Base Hospital. Their fundraising department will raffle the cubby house and donate the funds to a service of our choice within the hospital.
