School of Wonder

A fun and comfy way to support those in need

School of Wonder Children came to school dressed in their pyjamas on Friday, bringing along their favourite teddy or sleeptime toy and donating a gold coin to support the needy in our community. Pyjama Day was the initiative of two of our Year 3 children, Gurekam and Matilda. Well done girls and School of Wonder children for helping others in our community to succeed!

Celebration, colour and joy to end the year

Families are reminded that the School of Wonder children's Celebration Day, including the Colour Run, will be held on the last day of term, Wednesday, December 14. Further details are available under School Activities on PAM and have been emailed to families. Parents/carers who have not yet submitted the Colour Run permission form on PAM are asked to do so as soon as possible. The children and staff are looking forward to celebrating together as the school year comes to a close.

Christmas market stall reopening next week

The Christmas market stall was a huge success at the Christmas concert on Thursday night, and we thank the School of Wonder children, School of Innovation young people and staff Jeanette Doyle, Jacqui Avard and Cindy Luksch who contributed items to sell. Although almost all gone, there are a few items still available, including some personalised items from the Foundation and Year 1 children. Therefore, the stall will continue to run at the front of the college before (8:40am-8:55am) and after (3:15pm-3:30pm) school on Monday and Tuesday - or until sold out - for families to access.

Alternatively, parents/carers of Foundation and Year 1 children can contact their child's Pastoral Group Leader and we can arrange personalised items to be handed out, with money given to their Pastoral Group Leader.

People wishing to make purchases at the stall will need to pay with small denominations of cash, with the maximum cost of items being $5. All proceeds from the stall will go to the St Vincent de Paul Giving Tree Gift Card Drive.

We thank families for their support of the Christmas concert and market stall. We will share the grand total raised in coming days.

School of Wonder Leader appointed for 2023

Kara McCann
Kara McCann

St Anne's College has appointed a new School of Wonder Leader for 2023. Kara McCann will be taking 12 months’ leave from the School Leader role in 2023 to explore travel and complete her Master’s Degree. During the next 12 months, Kara will also be leading the development of the Mental Health in Primary Schools program in a part-time capacity at the college, which is a State Government initiative for all primary-school-aged children. We wish Kara all the very best and find comfort in the fact that she will continue to be a part of our community in 2023.

I would like to welcome Megan Shiner to the college for 2023 as the School of Wonder Leader. Megan joins us from St John’s in Euroa where she has had a leadership role across the school and has taught in Year 1/2. Megan will join us for the morning on Tuesday, December 13 to spend time with students and staff for Orientation Day. We look forward to making Megan feel very welcome at St Anne’s.
